Artists in the Garden

A juried selection of plein air artists will be painting in select gardens and scenic locations throughout the Borough. The art will be available for sale at the Garden Tour Gallery.

FAQ

Where can I pick up my ticket and tour guide?
All tickets must be picked up during tour hours at the Stonington Garden Club “Will Call” tent on Wadawanuck Square. Please bring a paper or digital copy of your receipt. A guidebook will be provided on the day of the tour when you purchase or pick up your ticket at our Stonington Garden Club Tent on Wadawanuck Square.


Is it a self-guided tour?
Yes, and walkable. Each garden is clearly marked on the map provided in the guidebook. A host will be at the entrance of each garden. Look for a green umbrella. Docents will be in every garden to offer further guidance.


Where can I park?
Parking volunteers will be on hand to direct you to the closest parking lot after you drive over the bridge into Stonington Borough. Please see below for parking & directions.


Where can I eat?
There are more than eight eateries within a 1/2 mile of Wadawanuck Square and all of the gardens. Please visit our Food & Drink page for a complete list. We recommend making a reservation when possible.

Can I purchase tickets on the day of the tour?
Yes. Tickets will also be available on the day of the tour, only cash and credit cards will be accepted.


How many gardens will I see?
The tour will include 8 private gardens and feature the Stonington Community Center’s Learn and Grow Garden. This Learn and Grow Garden is the Stonington Garden Club’s major community project. After several years of fundraising, the garden was completely redesigned and will be the highlight of our tour. All of the gardens are within walking distance.


Is this a fundraiser?
Yes. The Stonington Garden Club is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. After expenses are met, 100% of proceeds from the tour are donated to local, state, and national horticulture, environment, and conservation causes projects and organizations. Are children allowed?
Yes. Children 17 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Strollers and baby carriages are not allowed in the gardens. Children 5 and under do not need a ticket for the tour. All other children must have a ticket.


DIRECTIONS & PARKING

The hub of our Garden Tour is located at Wadawanuck Square just one block after crossing the bridge into Stonington Borough, also called “the Village”. Attendants will direct you to the closest parking area and a short walk will find you back at the Square. Purchase or pick up pre-ordered tickets at the Stonington Garden Club Tents where you will receive a Garden Tour booklet. You will also find the Tour Marketplace with a variety of vendors. For your convenience, you may check your purchases for safe keeping at the Information Tent so that you may tour unencumbered.
