URI Master Gardener – Garden Tour

September 26 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Gardening with the Masters Tour

Gardening with the Masters Tour

Sept. 25–26 • 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

It’s that time again! The 10th annual Gardening with the Masters Tour will feature 15 private gardens located throughout Rhode Island and surrounding areas owned and cared for by URI Master Gardener volunteers. We invite you to visit these private gardens over the weekend of Sept. 25–26.

Each of the gardens on the tour is unique, evolving over the years and reflecting the changing interests and lifelong learning of its gardener, and demonstrating one or more best practices for environmentally sound gardening. These practices include gardening for butterflies, bees, and birds, vegetable production on small and large scales, composting, native plants, rain gardens, integrated pest management, and more!

The host gardeners also serve as community horticultural educators throughout Rhode Island, and continually upgrade their horticultural knowledge by attending research-based continuing education classes each year. Our host gardeners are opening their gardens to the public as a teaching tool to demonstrate how gardens can enhance biodiversity in our environment, increase food security for families, and improve quality of life.

Upon registration, information will be shared that outlines COVID-19 precautions being taken at the gardens themselves, and some tips for garden visitors to keep everyone safe.

Purchase your ticket (available online only) and learn more about the gardens featured on this year’s tour by visiting uri.edu/mastergardener/tour. Each ticket admits one person for both days. Tickets cost $30 each and are required for admission to the tour gardens, without exception. Youths younger than 18 accompanied by an adult may attend free of charge. For more information, please call 401.874.2900 during business hours, or email coopext@uri.edu.
